Ubisoft is once again turning to voluntary departures as a way to trim its workforce at its Paris headquarters. Following a similar approach used at Ubisoft Massive earlier this year, the publisher hopes that around 200 employees will choose to leave on their own, sidestepping traditional layoffs. This method allows the company to reduce staff numbers while avoiding the fallout that often comes with forced job cuts. It’s a tactic that reveals Ubisoft’s ongoing struggle to balance financial pressures with maintaining morale among its teams. Whether enough employees will opt in remains to be seen, but Ubisoft clearly wants to keep layoffs off the table if possible.
