Over half of The Sims development team is working on The Sims 4 and ‘the next evolution’ so I guess it’s time to start speculating again

Here we go again, trying to read between the lines of another Sims update to guess what’s next for the series. Over half of The Sims development team is currently focused on The Sims 4 and what they’re calling the next evolution of the franchise. That alone is enough to spark fresh speculation among fans and industry watchers alike.

The Sims 4 continues to receive steady support, which isn’t surprising given its long lifespan and still-strong player base. But this hint about a next evolution has tongues wagging. The fact that a majority of the team is divided between maintaining the current game and working on what comes next suggests something significant is in the pipeline. Whether that means a looming new installment, a major overhaul, or an entirely fresh take on the life simulation formula remains to be seen.

For now, it’s clear that EA and Maxis are investing in both present and future, keeping the franchise alive while laying groundwork for what might be a bold new chapter. Whatever the next step turns out to be, fans can rest assured that The Sims remains a priority. And with that much development muscle behind it, the next announcement can’t come soon enough.
