Italy’s Competition Authority has opened an investigation into Activision Blizzard focusing on the monetisation strategies used in Diablo Immortal and Call of Duty Mobile. The Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM) is looking into whether the way these games handle in-app purchases and other payment systems complies with local regulations. Both titles have been under scrutiny before for their aggressive microtransaction models, so this inquiry adds to the ongoing debate around monetisation in popular mobile games. Activision Blizzard has not yet responded to the investigation.
