“It is out of the question to let a boss run rampant” – Ubisoft workers strike against “disastrous” cutbacks

Ubisoft’s recent wave of cancellations and restructuring has reignited tensions among its workforce, leading unionised employees to stage a half-day strike. The Paris-based union Solidaires Informatique voiced strong opposition not only to job cuts but also to the publisher’s new policy requiring a full return to the office. Instead of flexible remote work, staff are now limited to a yearly allowance of home days—a move a Ubisoft executive defended as necessary to boost collective efficiency and foster a stronger sense of belonging. For many workers, though, it feels like a step backward, clashing with expectations shaped during the pandemic and fueling fears about the company’s direction amid a turbulent time.
