I’m not sure Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ busted megaphone and other Switch 2 bits are worth £4.19, but 3.0’s a welcome nudge back into Nintendo’s lovely world

I was genuinely excited to try out the megaphone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ new Switch 2 Edition, picturing myself bellowing playful insults across my island. But it turns out the voice recognition is frustratingly unreliable, often attracting the attention of completely the wrong villagers. It’s enough to spark a full-blown uprising in Honaloha if things keep going this way. So, I quickly stashed the megaphone away, and honestly, beyond that, there doesn’t seem to be much here to justify the £4.19 price tag.

Still, the 3.0 update overall does offer a gentle nudge back into Nintendo’s charming, laid-back world — something that’s been hard to resist. But this new edition’s extras feel a bit half-baked, especially when the standout feature feels more like a headache than a highlight.
