I’m tired of running the same Fortnite loadout—both SMGs and snipers need a major buff

For too long, Fortnite players have been stuck in a loop of using the same tried-and-true loadouts, primarily centered around red-dot assault rifles. While these weapons have dominated the meta, it raises a pressing question: what about the other options? The persistent underperformance of SMGs and snipers is glaring and simply unacceptable.

Take SMGs, for instance. These should thrive in close combat, delivering rapid-fire damage at short ranges. However, players often find themselves opting for assault rifles instead because they can handle a variety of scenarios with greater efficacy. The thrill of outmaneuvering opponents in tight spaces, feeling that rush of adrenaline, seems to be lost as the strongest weapons push players towards a singular strategy.

Then there are the snipers. Once symbols of precision and skill, they’ve been relegated to niche use in the current gameplay. With the increasing emphasis on mobility and fast-paced encounters, it’s no wonder many players abandon the long-range approach in favor of more accessible options. This not only dulls the experience for those who enjoy the tactical aspect of sniping but also stifles the creativity that Fortnite is known for.

The imbalance has led to a rather monotonous experience, where players are almost obliged to stick to a few reliable choices. It’s high time that both SMGs and snipers receive the attention they deserve. Buffing these weapon categories could diversify the gameplay, encourage new strategies, and ultimately lead to more engaging matches. Fortnite thrives on its dynamic nature, and addressing these weapon imbalances would reignite that much-needed variety. After all, isn’t the heart of the game about crafting unique loadouts and overcoming challenges with different tactics?
