Resident Evil 9, now officially dubbed Requiem, feels like a game built entirely on contrasts. After spending three hours with what seems to be a near-final build, it struck me how deliberately the experience swings between intense peaks and unsettling valleys. The pacing hits you fast, too — the game wastes no time setting that rhythm of adrenaline and suspense in motion. It’s a constant push and pull that keeps you on edge, capturing the signature Resident Evil tension while trying out fresh tonal shifts. From what I saw, Requiem’s formula mash-up manages to feel familiar without playing it safe, and that alone is enough to have me intrigued moving forward.
