Roguelike fatigue is a real thing these days. Just when you think you’ve seen every twist and grind the genre can offer, along comes a fresh take that actually makes you stop and pay attention. That’s exactly how I felt when I caught wind of a new project blending roguelike elements with the kind of breakneck stealth action I usually keep on my radar.
Think Dark Messiah of Might & Magic fused with roguelike mechanics, but cranked up to a blistering pace. It’s a combo that sounds almost absurd on paper, yet somehow it’s got me genuinely intrigued. The game promises the chaotic, skill-driven combat that made Dark Messiah a cult favorite, while layering on procedural variety and permadeath tension that keep each run unpredictable. If the developers pull it off, this could carve out a neat spot between methodical sneaking and throwing caution—and enemies—to the wind.
Given how easily roguelikes can feel overdone or repetitive, seeing one that embraces the high-speed, aggressive stealth mindset is a breath of fresh air. I’m definitely on board to see how this one shapes up as it moves closer to launch.
